Why Elopements?
To tell you the truth, I haven’t always been a fan of weddings.
In fact, until my early twenties, I was dead set on living the single life and dying alone.
As a queer woman, the wedding industry felt exclusionary and conformist and, well, not built for people like me.
The way I understood things, getting married meant that I had to put on this expensive, stuffy, patriarchal show in front of a big crowd of people I barely know, commit to honor and obey someone for the rest of my life, and promise away my life and individuality — all while wearing a dress I’d have to starve myself to fit into and a pair of Very Uncomfortable Shoes.
It wasn’t until I met my partner, Mac (who was also anti-marriage at the time) and we started trying to figure out what our life together might look like that I realized that weddings and marriage don’t have to fit into that tired and oppressive mold.
So, I choose to photograph a different sort of wedding. The kind that fearlessly throws aside centuries of stifling traditions, family expectations, and wasteful decor.
The kind where the couple and their real personalities, identities, and individual values can shine through.
The kind where the couple makes intentional choices about exactly what and who will be a part of this important day.
About me
I grew up in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains — just outside of Shenandoah National Park— and have always had a taste for the outdoors and doing things my own way.
Intersectional feminism, minimalism, and sustainability are guiding forces in both my life and my work. I have been vegan since 2012, and see that as an extension of my commitment to compassion, equality, and sustainable living.
I am always working to honor my clients’ diverse backgrounds and experiences, and promote a more environmentally-responsible and inclusive approach to weddings.
Not only is it a blast working with adventurous, out-of-the-box couples, it’s a big middle finger to the capitalist lie that tells us we’re only successful if we’re making at least a six-figure income and burning out at a job we hate. Part of why I love my job is that it allows me the opportunity to do some adventuring of my own!
In my free time, you can find me out hiking and birdwatching, obsessing over my houseplants, and working toward my goal of being zero-waste.
I’d love to work with you to make your unconventional wedding dreams come true.
peek behind the scenes
Are you curious about what it would feel like to work with me?
I’ve been told that I can sometimes seem a little bit “intense” on the internet, but the truth of the matter is that I’m a silly, fanny pack-rocking dweeb who’s just super passionate about what I do and helping couples celebrate their wedding their way.
Take a peek behind the scenes of a recent session to get an idea of how I work (and some sweet fanny pack styling inspo)!

Flit HQ is in Richmond, Virginia! However, I am available for wedding celebrations nationwide and internationally! I love to travel to celebrate adventurous couples or to work with people who feel particularly connected to my philosophy.
Yes, and I love to do it! Because Virginia is my home and where I do most of my adventuring, I specialize in Virginia elopements, but I have photographed awesome couples all over the country.
Here’s a link to my pricing page, but send me an email to discuss your specific needs if you still don’t see what you’re looking for.
