I am a big subscriber to the “abundance” mindset.

The way I see it, the more awesome, progressive, well-educated and prepared wedding and elopement photographers there are out there in the world, the more couples having an amazing wedding day experience and creating memories they’ll treasure for the rest of their lives.

And that’s really what matters.

I’ve put together some resources that I hope you’re just getting started or are a seasoned pro.

Gear List

  • Nikon D750 (x3) – The Nikon D750 is a beast of a full-frame DSLR. It is fast and weather-resistant, the colors look great, and it’s super reliable. If you’re looking for a solid camera to add to your kit for weddings and elopements, make it the D750.
  • Tamron SP 35mm f1.4 – This lens is possibly my favorite lens in my kit. It’s tac sharp and perfect for the wide, epic “figure in landscape” shots that I love. It’s a better lens than the Nikon or Sigma ART counterparts, at a more affordable price point. Win-win. PS- do yourself a favor and just skip the Sigma ART 35mm. They are infamous for developing irreparable focus issues over time. A few months of a great lens isn’t worth the heartache.
  • Sigma ART 50mm f1.4 – Unlike it’s troubled sister, the 35mm ART, the Sigma ART 50mm lens for Nikon F-mount is an absolute workhorse. A gorgeous lens for portraits and closeups, with the creamiest bokeh you could ever hope for. If I had to choose one lens from my kit to shoot an entire elopement with, it would be this one.
  • Nikon 85mm f1.8 – This ultra-affordable lens outperforms lenses twice its price. The compression is beautiful and because it’s largely made of plastic, it is lightweight and durable. I have purchased more expensive 85mm lenses, but I still find myself reaching for this one when it comes time to pack up my kit.
  • Tamron 70-200 f.2.8 – Another gorgeous, versatile, durable lens from Tamron. A must-have for elopements.
  • Rokinon 14mm f2.8 – A great, must-have lens for ultra-wide shots and astrophotography!

How does this work?

I believe that the only way to learn is to do.

That’s why my mentees don’t just pay me to talk at them through the computer screen for a few hours while they sit quietly and take notes — you’ll get your hands dirty working in the day-to-day grind of an active photography business. Writing content, scheduling social media posts, assisting with client communications, editing photos,

I’ll teach you my systems and processes, explain the importance of each step to the overall health of your business, and answer any questions you have about practical applications. We will also have dedicated mentoring sessions where we’ll meet at a coffee shop or other local hangout and chat about your ideas for your business, discuss best practices, discover your niche and target market, and more. I will share my advice based on my experience, as well as resources that have helped me learn and develop over my career.

There is no charge for my mentorship program. Think of it like an internship where you learn on the job and get out exactly what you put in.

You must be able to dedicate at least 4 hours per week to this mentorship program and have your own digital SLR camera and laptop with an Adobe CC subscription. (Nikon and Mac preferred).
