Melissa + Connor's Wintry Richmond Engagement Session
First, let me say I LOVE engagement sessions. Almost as much as I love Melissa and Connor.
Engagement sessions are the perfect low-pressure way for a couple and photographer to get used to the way the other operates before their wedding day. It allows the couples I work with to get a feel for the way I like to take portraits, the types of directions I give, and my general demeanor behind the camera, and it gives me an opportunity to see how comfortable they are in front of the camera, how they interact with one another, and what sort of direction and encouragement they might need. Getting that all figured out ahead of time saves a lot of time and stress come wedding day, and removing stress from your wedding day is a big part of what I’m about.
Not to mention that engagement sessions are just downright fun!
Melissa and Connor wanted to take some relaxed photos with their dog, Harper, before heading across town to do the “official” photos of just the two of them. Luckily, they live right near Richmond’s adorable Bellevue neighborhood, so we just took a walk!
After a quick wardrobe change, we piled in the car and headed over to Richmond’s Byrd park and took a stroll over to Swan Lake, stopping along the way to chat and play with the geese.
